The First Day

God Created Light The first day, 

God created Light,
He had a purpose and a plan,
One end in mind, so that He might Begin to set the stage for Man.
Then, meaning that a man should be What stands for Him, he represents,
God made light for mankind to see, So sight is Man’s essential sense.
 Without it, Touch would be his guide,
And lead him, haltingly, to feel For what to sight should be denied
 As everything of it would seem unreal,
 But—with it—Man is able to Keep, whatsoever, far or near,
Together, in capacious view,
And hold it in one spacious sphere.
